Your support is needed to help Artists in Healthcare grow and expand arts in healthcare programming in Manitoba. The field is growing, as described in the Society for the Arts in Healthcare State of the Field Report, released in September 2009:
“Arts in Healthcare is a diverse, multidisciplinary field dedicated to transforming the healthcare experience by connecting people with the power of the arts at key moments in their lives. This rapidly growing field integrates the arts, including literary, performing, and visual arts and design, into a wide variety of healthcare and community settings for therapeutic, educational and expressive purposes.”
If you wish to dedicate your donation to a specific program you may do so as follows:
- To provide more musician hours to existing programs or help fund new music programming at a hospital or long term care facility.
Our music program is delivered by excellent musicians who are deeply committed to the work. There are many places where we do not yet provide services and we would love to bring the healing art of music to healthcare facilities throughout the province.
- To support the new Arts in Healthcare Program at St. Boniface Hospital. This art at bedside program is in the research and documentation stage, with patient trials beginning fall 2010. Long term funding will be needed for art supplies and for ongoing artist mentorship/training.
