Nurses in the antenatal unit at St.Boniface Hospital approached Artists in Healthcare with a request for something they could place memorial articles in, for families who suffered the loss of a child through miscarriage or stillbirth.
A local quilt artist designed a beautiful soft quilted envelope, lined in flannelette. The memory bundle holds a copy of the baby’s footprints, a lock of hair, bracelet and printed material affirming the life of the child.
Many of the mothers come from the north and are unable to visit the memorial designated at St. Boniface Cemetery. The bundles serve as a memorial which they can take to share with family at home.
Artists in Healthcare facilitated this project which is ongoing thanks to Spiritual Care at St. Boniface Hospital.
